We compiled a list of general Partner Program do's and don'ts below to help you understand Redfin's expectations regarding some practices common in Real Estate.
Admin (Administrative/Brokerage) Fees
Redfin does not allow Admin or Broker Fees to be passed down to Redfin referrals. Our current referral agreement has a provision about this:
5. I UNDERSTAND I WILL STOP RECEIVING REFERRALS IF I:
a. Charge any Referral Customer additional or administrative fees at closing
Minimum Commissions
Redfin does not allow Partner Agents to require Redfin customer referrals to be entered into a minimum commission agreement.
Pre-approvals
Pre-approvals are not required for touring with Redfin Agents or Partner Agents.
A partner agent is not to require a pre-approval until after the first tour. We've learned that speaking too early or requiring pre-approvals to tour, is one of the main reasons we lose a customer connection.
While it's okay to discuss your customers' preapproval status or refer them to preferred lenders to obtain a preapproval letter, you must be consistent and ask the same questions and provide the same information to all customers!
Drip Campaigns (Subscriptions) Rules
- Before engaging in any drip campaign, Partner Agents are responsible for understanding and complying with the CAN-SPAM Act’s requirements
- Redfin referrals should not be added to a drip campaign against a customer's wishes
- A Partner Agent should only add a customer to a subscription list after the client has engaged with you to represent them for real estate services
- Messages should include a clear explanation of how to opt-out from future messages, such as an accessible "Unsubscribe" feature
- If a customer is removed from a Partner’s Redfin customer list, the customer should also be removed from any drip campaign/subscription lists at the time of removal on Redfin
Please note: For technical reasons, our Agent Tools is currently unable to integrate with follow-up software or personal CRM.
Dual Agency
Redfin does not allow Dual Agency in a transaction where a Redfin Referral is involved. Our current referral agreement has a provision about this:
5. I UNDERSTAND I WILL STOP RECEIVING REFERRALS IF I:
c. Represent any other party in the same real estate transaction (i.e., no dual agency by a single agent).
